In an internet translated text that has not been confirmed by press release or other official english language release, VG reports Atlantic president's Craig Kallamn and Ron Shapiro saw M2M open for Jewel in front of 16.000 in New Jersey. Two weeks later in New York City, they met with M2M manager Thomas Erdtman. There, they told Erdtman that Atlantic would not pick up an option for a third M2M record.
The translation goes on to further specify that Atlantic would cancel the debt on M2M's advance monies. The record label wanted Marion Ravn as their next superstar and would sign her to a record contract. This is the backstory behind how M2M was booted from the Jewel tour and broken up by their label.
Marit is the older half of M2M. Larsen has been quoted as saying thet the electronic nature nature takes the energy out of the music. Her most inspirational musical figure is Joni Mitchell. In year 2000, her favorite cd was Radiohead's The Bends. Larsen's more recent interviews are in Norge, so if someone would be so as to translate, we can repost them here.
In October 2004, Larsen performed live on NRK radio. Larsen sings, plays guitar and piano.
The other half of M2M immediately signed a recording contract with M2M's former record label, Atlantic Records. With a reported 2-3 million USD (15-22 million kroner) advance, this may be the largest contract for any Norwegian act.
In 2005, Ravn debuted 3 songs on NRK. In support of her new solo record, she will touring M2M strongholds of Japan, South America, and Europe.
Ravn sings, plays piano and guitar.
