Located at the top of fashionable Nob Hill, the Renaissance Stanford Court is an historical hotel with personality. I stayed here for six consecutive weeks, and I never saw a reason to change accomodations. The hotel has a fine restaurant, internet access, and is located only 6 blocks from Chinatown, which was great for me!
The location is fantastic. Nob Hill is at the center of the city. On one side is the shopping district of Union Square and on the other side of the hill is Fisherman's Wharf. On the way down to Embarcadero and the Bay is the aforementioned Chinatown. Two San Francisco Cable Car lines stop directly in front of the hotel.
Being a historic hotel, the guest rooms are oddly shaped. Some of the furnishings are older and the work space is smaller than a more modern accomodations. Nevertheless, everything is clean and works well.
The staff became accustomed to seeing me. They were very friendly, efficient, and I always felt like I was home instead of 3000 km away from home. The city is a popular internation tourist destination and Marriott Hotels has a staff exchange program, so expect to see some visiting front desk staff and management.
I love San Francisco. During the summertime, the weather is nice without too much rain. The temperature is warm during the day and cool in the evenings. The metro, BART is clean, efficient, safe, a value for the money, and connects the city to San Francisco International and Oakland Airports. Cable Cars take visitors North-South and East-West in the city limits. There are many scenic areas such as Golden Gate National Park and the dining is world class.
Highly recommended!
