St. Louis is not the best city for hotel service. Our team stayed at 4 different area hotels before we landed at the Hyatt. For 6 months, Hotel Renaissance at the airport was our home. However, this hotel was totally isolated from the city, and we virtually prisoners in our rooms.
In contrast, the Hyatt was connected to a mall in the heart of downtown. Landry's Seafood and Hard Rock Cafe are in the complex, Hooters is in the mall, and there is a cineplex (kino) across the car park. Next door, the St Louis Blues play hockey at the Kiel Center. Metrolink light rail connects the hotel to the Lambert International Airport.
Over my next 2 years in St Louis, I stayed at the Hyatt Regency Union Station. The main lobby and the atrium are spectacular. The accomodations are superb and upgraded rooms in the Regency Club are outstanding. The service was good; there does seem to be a disproportionate number of hotel students from around the country interning here, but this does not detract from the hotel's overall professionalism.
The hotel is so good, that I returned there for a weekend holiday. Since I am constantly travelling, I like to spend my free time at home. However, this is only 1 of 2 work based hotels where I have made a return visit. The other hotel is the Hyatt Regency in Dearborn, see next page.
